Leopard chevrons

Wow! This look so isn't me, hahah. But once I had the idea I just had to make it reality. I used tape to make the chevrons, then I added H&M Golden Treasure for my gold background and finally I used konad plate M57 for the leopard print. Normally I suggest people to remove the tape right after applying the polish, to prevent the polish from sticking to the tape, but this time I ignored my own advise. But it turned out alright, as you can see :D I applied very thin coats and then after I stamped, carefully removed the tape strips, one by one. The pretty blue metallic/shimmer is Sephora's Summer In Bangkok, my favorite Sephora polish after It's Time To Rock. It's actually more turquoise in real life, very pigmented and unfortunately also stains so bad! That's why I'm wearing two layers of base coat underneath... Anyway, would you wear this wild design? Or does it scare ya? ;)

  28. I really like it, and I'm not usually a fan of print on all nails. I feel like I just get bored really fast w/ my mani when if I do. I think I'm gonna try this, but with a plum/deep purple instead of the turquoise color you have. THANKS FOR THE INSPIRATION =D

  30. I think covering the whole nail plate with animal prints is too wild for me too, but with this design here it looks a bit vintage and rocking cool! I think it might work well too with neon/shocking pink as base colour if you like it bold.

I accidentally found your site today (while doing something else) and only started doing mani seriouly for few weeks only. Your tutorials will come in handy for my practices.

Also, regarding your advice on removing the tape asap, I tried with French mani so many times before, but I still failed. The problem for me was:

    (1) the pink bit of the French was ripped off with the tape though I've already waited for it to dry and also made the tape less sticky.

    (2) I always get crisp lines but with tangly bits when removing the tape no matter how fast I remove them.
(the "tangly bits" look like what cheese does when you take a piece/section of a pizza). Might be my White polish is too thick? But I'm not sure.

So most of the time I compromise my French mani with free hand and I think it works well, but since you've done so many great designs with tapes I can't help but to wonder WHAT WENT WRONG for me? PPPPPPPPPPPlease give me some advicesssss!!!!

Thanks and please keep the good work coming~~~

    1. Hi Krisbe, thank you for your comment and questions.

      Here are my answers:

      (1) I think the pink bit of the French simply wasn't dry enough, so you could wait a bit longer or use a coat of fastdrying topcoat. I really recommend the last. I use Seche Vite myself, this allows me to put the tape on after about 10 minutes or so.

      (2) The first thing I always recommend people regarding tape manis, is to pull of the tape while the layering polish is still wet. But you say you already remove them as fast as you can. But even then, it's possible to have tangly edges. In that case it has to do with the layering polish you use. Some polishes just don't work well for tape manis. It indeed might be too thick, or too chalky. So try solving this with a few drops of thinner or try another similar colored polish.

      Good luck with it!

P.S. Loved the comparison with cheese of a pizza slice, haha!
