(That's Kleancolor Blind Date in the background. ^^) |
Hi guys! Today my blog is exactly one year old! I can't believe how fast everything went, time sure flies when you're having fun. ^^ Thank you all so much for visiting and sharing your comments, I hope I can do this for a long time. :-)
For this special post I made a blue and gold tape mani. I did have to file down all my nails because I had a deep tear in one nail. And though I don't like my nails this short, I decided to embrace my little nubbins anyway because how can I not share the nail art I made with you! ;-)
The lightblue with shimmer is called Top Of Emotion from a new brand called Anny. I'll have to make an individual post for Top Of Emotion some time, because it's so pretty! I was already wearing it for a day, so I could immediately start placing the tape strips for the zigzag pattern I was initially going for. I already liked the result after one zigzag with Essence Into The Dark, so I included a picture of that as well. :)
But I couldn't stop there haha, so finally I added a hint of gold with H&M Golden Treasure. As you can see, the end result is a bit different than my usual zigzag manis, instead of repeating the zigzag shape with the third polish, I just did a chevron so lots of the darker blue stays visible. :-) I hope you guys like it! And thanks for reading. ^^
Even though your nail are shorter than your usual, they're really cute! I love the colour choice in the design too.
ReplyDeleteHeehee, I do have to get used to them. But it's a lot easier to embrace them with nail art on them ^^ Thank you very much!

I found your blog from a link posted on chalkboardnails.com. I loved the idea for taped nails, and wanted to see what you'd done. Fabulous! Now that I've had some time to experiment with the technique, I'd like to make a suggestion. Instead of using "scotch" tape, I've discovered medical tape is *much* better. Buy yourself a roll of translucent, tearable medical tape at the pharmacy (NOT the cloth medical tape!). It sticks far better, and is flexible so it will lie perfectly flat along the curve of your nail. I used a manicure stick to press it down flat along the free edge, and also to secure it tightly along the sides of the nail. I found that running the manicure stick along the free edge of the tape one more time right before applying the polish to each nail ensures no polish will seep under the edge. I'm thinking this tape might also work to make stencils using decorative punches, although I haven't tried this yet. Maybe you'd like to experiment. I would try laying down a strip of the medical tape on a piece of wax paper or parchment, punching out the design along the length, then cutting them apart, peeling each one off the paper, and applying it to the nail.
ReplyDeleteGreat manicure! Happy blogaversary!
