Springy stripes

Now that spring is slowly starting to appear, I've noticed I like to wear pastels more often now. This week I'd been wearing China Glaze Lemon Fizz for a few days and when I got tired of it I spiced it up with a colorful tape mani. It wasn't my intention to make stripes though, after I did blue tips with China Glaze For Audrey I wanted to add geometric patterns in coral with Essence Think Pink. However, Think Pink was a lot sheerer than I thought, creating different tones of coral with the polish underneath. (The middle two colors are For Audrey and Lemon Fizz underneath Think Pink.) I was so pleasently surprised by this that I continued playing with this layering effect and ended up with these cheerful stripes. :-) Thanks for reading!

  18. Very pretty! I like Lemon Fizz also, but from the day I bought it (and no matter how many times I try to thin it) it's a very thick and stringy polish :(
Not sure if it's the color or just the bottle I got!

  26. How are you so good at striping! Whenever I try striping, the tape leaves a mark on my nail! Unless i'm too impatient! or when I paint the colour and pull the tape off, it isn't a smooth line like yours!

    1. Are you sure the polish underneath was dry enough? Try taping on your mani from a day before, see if it still leaves marks then. Otherwise you could try different tape. I like to use plain, clear stationery tape, but others prefer painters tape. So just experiment with different kinds till you find the one that's good for you.

    1. Hi! And thank you ^^. I started with the yellow, then I placed a tape stip horizontally on my nails to cover up the upper half (at the cuticles) and painted to other half (on my tips) blue. When that had dried I painted the middle section with the pink (also using tape), overlapping a part of both the yellow and blue. The pink is sheer so you can still see the colors underneath.

I might do a tutorial in the future, however there are many other designs I want to make a tutorial for first! :-)
