OPI You Don't Know Jacques + Color Club Covered In Diamonds

Hi readers! The other day I showed you OPI You Don't Know Jacques. It's a very calm and subtle color, very beautiful, but I was curious to see it with just a little bit more sparkle. So here it is with a coat of Color Club Diamonds. I like the combination and love iridiscent glitter/flakies. They're sparkly enough to add a lot of magic to a dull mani but yet they're subtle. Sounds quite contrary, doesn't it? :P So a party for the eyes but too bad Covered In Diamonds has such a thick formula. It made my nails look thick and plumpy. And I guess another layer of matt topcoat over them won't help either, but I just had to see what it would look like mattified :) What do you think about this combo? Thanks for stopping by!

  2. Of course you could make covered in diamonds look good! I always thought of it as Easter grass but here, it's stunning.

  3. Thanks to you I'm in love with matte finishes. I think matte looks great on glitters and flakes, because it lets them shine on their own without the annoying glossy shine. Love it!

  4. Not a fan of the matte coat. But the sparkly is good. :) And I agree with you that the Color Club Covered In Diamonds was very thick looking.

I stumbled upon your blog when Googling variations on a French manicure, so I've been following it for a few weeks now and I like a lot of your work. I think you would like this girl's nail work, too.

  8. Erg mooi! Ik ga het straks eens proberen met een scale effect nagellakje van Golden rose, ik heb toevallig een soortgelijke kleur op als jij. Hopelijk krijgt het net zo'n effect als op jouw nagels!

  17. @auntheathee: The one I use is from Essence, I love it because it gives a true matte finish and it's cheap :) But it's not available everywhere (and I heard it now comes in a different bottle with the name Soft Touch Effect). Because I'm very satisfied with the Essence topcoat, I haven't tried many other brands yet, but I've read that a lot of people like the one from China Glaze (Matte Magic) or Essie (Matte About You). They also give that true matte finish (opposed to satin matte) and can be find easily online.
