31 Day Challenge, day 25: Inspired by Fashion

Hi everyone! :-) Today's nails were kind of an experiment. When I saw this super cute Modcloth dress, I couldn't wait to capture the edgy neckline with the starry mesh fabric on a semibare accent nail. I used an image plate (that I bought here) to stamp the star pattern, and later I added the rest with the help of tape for nice and crisp lines. It didn't turn out as awesome as I hoped it would though, the stars made the sharp edges of the 'neckline' fade a bit. So next time I try this, I'll probably leave out the stars. What do you guys think about my fashion-inspired nails?

My inspiration: 'Written in the Stars Dress' from Modcloth

  6. I think it looks great and very creative. I wouldn't leave out the stars, but maybe go with smaller star pattern if possible.

  8. Jane, would you consider trying this with gold stars, or with a gold background behind the stars? I think I'd like it better if it was a little more "blinged out." BTW, I tried your beautiful rainbow manicure for a Girl Scout dance and everybody LOVED it. The nail tech here couldn't get it quite right, but he tried hard. :-D

  20. Love it! It might make the stars pop more from the edge of the black line if it was a curved line like the top of the dress's neckline. Like a really low french tip line. That star edge is really cool and could be awesome with a different color star stamped under or a polka dot even. Oh the possibilities! :)

  21. Looks really pretty, so many nice patterns at that plate :)

  22. I think it looks awesome! The stars are proportionally bigger than the ones on the dress, but it doesn't really take away from the line! I kind of want to recreate this!

  24. I think it's really cool! And In my opinion the stars don't ruin anything on the manicure, they look great! But I do understand what you mean about them fading out the clean neckline a little, so it would be cool to see it without the stars as well :)
