Mummy XS

Hi dear readers! Today I've got something from the vault to show you. It's a mummy mani I did the other day, using extra small tape strips. I was wearing Orly Ancient Jade as my base color and on top I used Essence Chuck. As I told you yesterday in the comparison post, Chuck is very well pigmented and has a great formula, which make it a perfect polish to use for tape manis.

I also wanted to tell you all that I'm working on a bigger post with tips and tricks to improve your taping skills, because I know some of you still have trouble with that. So if you have any questions regarding tape manis you'd like me to answer, just post them in the comment section of this post and I'll include the answers in the upcoming 'Tips and tricks' post. Have a great night :)

  1. I was just thinking the other day that I was dying to see a more in-depth taping tutorial! My main problem is how do you get the tape to lay down completely flat on your nails? I have tried working with scotch tape (mine is slightly different than your European version) and I always get little bubbles at the edge where the polish seeps under. Same thing goes for the very edge of the nail and by the cuticle, I have a hard time getting the tape to completely cover that area. I can never get a really crisp, clean line like you do! Is the problem my tape or my technique? Thanks!!

  3. I can never seem to get a clean taped off mani, so I'm curious to see what will be in your post on it.

  4. Oeh, I like mummy stripes! I think they are cuter than the bolts, if I may say...

Anyway, I have actually sort of the same question as Alison: How is it possible that your edges are so good? If I remove my tape fast after polishing, or after a long time, you allways see a little bit smudge :-(

  5. Love!!!!! ♥

My main problem is managing to cut the tape thin but so it's still remotely straight :( It always seems to attach itself to the scissors and then ends up mangled by the time I apply it. When I desticky my tape a bit then it cuts fine but won't stick to my nails :(

    I'm still practicing though :)

  6. I can't seem to cut them thin either ^^^! It ends up sticking to the scissors or ripping. Practice makes perfect i guess! (: and i haven't quite found the right tape to use.

  7. could you possibly add a 'one coater' tag for polishes that are especially suited to tape manis? thank you!

  8. My question for you about taping:
Is there a specific way you stick the tape down so that the nail polish doesn't leak underneath? I try too get it flat down, but my nail polish always leaks underneath :( lol!

  12. Erg mooi!
